Music style research

I have chosen for the genre of my magazine to be Hip Hop. When making my magazine I hope to portray the expensive and glamourous lifestyle of current Hip Hop artists. I would like to show how current, popular Hip Hop artists are able to inspire their listeners, by including articles about success and achievement as I feel that all of these qualities can be associated with Hip Hop.
Hip Hop is a style of music that came from the Jamaican-American's in the 1970's. Hip Hop uses the style of singing called rap, and the tracks usually relate to 'urban life'.
Hip Hop artists tend to be from a challenge up-bringing and many of them can be related to crime, gangs and drugs.
Hip Hop artists tend to use nicknames rather than their actual names, such as 50 Cent and Jay-Z
