Font development
As I have changed my magazine name, I have decided that I should also change the font style as my original font choices didn't suit the new magazine name.

Development
I have been thinking about the name of my magazine and I feel that it won't appeal to a large audience. I feel this could be because it doesn't sound that original and just isn't a very exciting name.
I have chosen to change it to 'Galaxy' I prefer this name because it is more catchy and original, I think that it will stand out more on the shelf.

Colour Palettes
When analysing different magazines I have noticed that there is a colour them for each genre of music. Pop Music based magazines tend to use the same sort of colour palette as each other.
The same occured with Rock magazines.
I also found the same with Hip Hop based magazines. Although in these magazines there would be one extra colour added in. Such as in the VIBE magazine where there was the small use of red in the image, contrasting with the basic colour palette.
After doing this research I feel that the appropriate colour palette to use for my magazine will be the grey-scale one. I feel that if I add a small bit of colour to my magazine along side this colour palette it will create the classy, expensive look I will be looking for with my magazine.
Fonts
I feel that to fit the Hip Hop genre I need to use Bold and simple texts because that relates to the Hip Hop artists as they are bold and simple in the way that they present themselves. It is important that it doesn't only fit the genre but it needs to look professional. I want my magazine to come portray the glamourous lifestyle of Hip Hop artists so it is important that I pick fonts that will fit the glamourous look I am aiming for, but still simple, bold and catch the readers eye.
Picking the correct font for the Mast Head on the cover page is very important because that is the first thing that a potential reader sees. That means that if it doesn't stand out then they wont take any notice of the magazine on the self.
I have chosen the font 'Modern King'. I feel that this font is the most suitable for my magazine because it is simple and bold, but still portrays the glamorous image I was hoping to achieve.
An alternative font that I could choose to this would be 'Lion King'. I like this for the same reasons as the 'modern king' font, but I feel that it could be a bit too simple and bland. Meaning that it wouldn't catch peoples eye.

I have chosen for the genre of my magazine to be Hip Hop. When making my magazine I hope to portray the expensive and glamourous lifestyle of current Hip Hop artists. I would like to show how current, popular Hip Hop artists are able to inspire their listeners, by including articles about success and achievement as I feel that all of these qualities can be associated with Hip Hop.

I like this name because a blueprint is the base behind any good design. This shows that this magazine is the first place that you will find all of the best music.
The Throne
I like this name because the throne is where you are when you are at the top. So in this case the throne stands for the music that is at the top right now. This would mean that my magazine would be full of the best and most popular music at the moment. A throne is also quite glamorous which can commonly be linked with hip-hop.

Audience Research
Sports Junkies
Into sport, inter-racial, mixed gender
Snowboarding, football, basketball, athletics
Nike, Adidas, durable clothes
Don't use internet much or go to cinema but they do watch TV and listen to radio
Watch SkySports, BBC Sports, shop in JD Sports
These people would be a mixture of gender and race. Their life revolves around the sports that they participate in and enjoy. Whether this sport is an extreme sport such as BMX or whether it is a common team sport such as Football, this group of people strive to be the best they can.
They would be into purposeful, durable clothing such as Nike and Adidas so they can wear it when doing their sport without it being damaged. They don't use much internet or go to the cinema often. This is because they prefer to be out doing something hands on and sporty. They tend to read quite a lot of magazines. They would be more interested in articles talking about other peoples success and achievements as it would inspire them to do the same.
To satisfy this group when designing my magazine it is important that I can relate an article to a sporting success.

The large amount of this group will be male. They are more concerned about fitting in with the majority of the population than standing out from the crowd for being induvidual or a trend setter. They would be into any mainstream clothing brands such as Adidas or Nike long with any other clothes which are in fasion at the time.
A Townie could also being a word to describe a person or a group of people who are disruptive and cause trouble, whether it be drinking or could be related to boy racing. This would be their way of making themselves stand out from the crowd.
This group of people tend to watch a lot of TV and listen to a lot of radio. This would mean that they are up to date with all of the popular TV programmes and most current popular music. They also go to the cinema quite often. They tend not to read many Newspapers but do read quite a lot of magazines.
The fact that they read a lot of magazines and like to stay up to date with all the most popular music and TV means that they would be a very good target market for my magazine. They like a very broad amount of things and will follow the crowd. This means that if they see people buying my magazine they will do the same meaning sales of my magazine would be high. To satisfy this group of people it is important that in my magazine I include names of artists that they would recognise because they are not bothered about hearing about new 'indie' artists.
